Race #5 – 10% Done! – Addison Turkey Trot

img_172310% done!  Gotta love it!

This race was on the first colder, windy day that I’ve had to run in for this challenge of mine.  Overall it wasn’t a bad day, though.  My sister bought me some  running tights and shirts for my birthday so I used them for the first time.  They worked remarkably well!

My time was OK at 30:51 but it was pretty windy.  The only uphill portion, which I ran twice because of a loop, was going directly into the gusts.  Some people have told me I have to stop being so self critical about my times and be proud of what I’m accomplishing.  And I am.  I just keep thinking back to the 90’s when I was running about 6 to 9 minutes faster.  Of course I’m about 20 years older and about 15 pounds heavier.  Still I want to get faster.img_1722

This was the second race in a row where there weren’t any mile markers.  The last one I liked because it felt really stress free.  This one I wished there were markers.  I think I would have run a little differently in regards to strategy.  I know!  Quit complaining.  It really was a pleasant run, even with the temperature and wind. Addison Park District did a nice job putting this together with the weather conditions and I got a really nice hoody out of it.

The next run is this Thursday morning (yes, on Thanksgiving) at the LaGrange Turkey Trot.  It’s actually called the Run 3.14 Pie.  Not sure what the pie is all about.  Going to be running this again with my cousin, Annette Zyck.

Thanks again to everyone who has donated. The veterans really appreciate it.  If you would still like to donate click on THIS and you’ll get to my donation page.

Have a great Thanksgiving!
