Race #3 – Run 4 the Rescues

img_1704First off, I know I said in my last post that today’s race was going to be for Breathe Deep Busse Woods.  My entry fee stayed with them but I found out that the organization my cousin, Jody Zyck, is a part of was putting on their first 5K, so I decided I wanted to go there and support her.  The organization is called Field of Dreams and the they help to place rescue horses into good homes and situations. When most people think about rescues, dogs usually come to mind.  There are all types of animals out there, however, that need our help.  I’m proud of Jody and how much she cares about this cause and stands up to help so I had to be there.  Thanks to another cousin, Annette Zyck, who let me know about this race.  img_1702

The race was at Leroy Oaks County Forest Preserve in St. Charles.  This was my first trail run.  Yeah, it was a bit more taxing.  Especially at this time of year with all the leaves on the ground.  Worried about my footing, at times. My time was 31:27.  Not thrilled with that but I finished and that’s the important part of this challenge for me.

Also, if you don’t know it, St. Charles is a hilly place!  That’s something I’ve got to get used to.

Oh, and I’m going to get a chance to get used to it.  It turns out the St. Charles Turkey Trot I’m running tomorrow is on the exact same course!  Hopefully that time can come down a bit.
