Race #4 – St. Charles Turkey Trot

Race #4 – St. Charles Turkey Trot

OK – I’m actually about a week late in updating this blog with my latest run.  As chance had its way, I ran in the same forest preserve as I did the day before for the Race for the Rescues.  This race was set up, though, on the paths so there wasn’t any trail running.  It was still St. Charles, however, which means it was still hilly!

My time came down a bit from the day before at 31:18 so that’s a plus.  The weather was beautiful again so that was also a plus!  What gets me about my times is that there are always people that I look at, before we start, and think they will finish behind me because how badly out of shape they look.  What do they say about not judging a book by it’s cover?  Sorry for being so judgy.  img_1712

One difference in this race was that there were no mile markers.  At first I was a little annoyed but then, as I was finishing, I really enjoyed it.  It was pretty stress free.  When I thought I was about half way done it turned out there was only a half mile to go.  Should have pushed it a little harder at this point and my time would have been a little bit better.  Still finished and I’m one step closer to my goal!

Doing two runs in two days was pretty challenging for me and my legs felt it.  I had also played in three soccer games combined on Thursday and Friday night.  Every time I do something like this I get a little stronger so it’s all good.

That’s a pretty ugly shot! Glad I didn’t get my whole face in it.

Next race is Saturday, November 19th for the Addison Park District Turkey Trot.
